Aplikasi Kencan Online dan Implikasinya Terhadap Transformasi Perilaku Seksual di Kalangan Mahasiswi di Yogyakarta

This study examines the sociocultural influence of online dating applications (e.g., Tinder, Bumble, and Tantan) on the sexual behavior of female university students in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. These apps, offering “people nearby” and anonymity features, facilitate connections and potentially contribute to more permissive sexual practices.
Employing a qualitative ethnographic methodology, the research explores how some female students utilize these platforms to pursue casual sexual relationships. Factors contributing to this phenomenon include ease of access, anonymity afforded by the apps, a shifting social landscape, and the pervasive influence of popular culture, all
of which appear to diminish traditional social constraints on sexual expression. The findings indicate that these apps not only facilitate sexual encounters but also foster virtual environments where students negotiate and potentially internalize evolving sexual values, shaped by both popular culture and a more permissive social context.
