Developing the Reading Skill

Developing the reading skills plays a great role in the development of the Indonesian learners of English in particular as well as the development of Indonesia in general. If one does not know the reading skills, one will find it difficult to 'attack' text written in English. To cate up with the rapid development of science and technology the learners need specific strategies to master the reading skills, as most books on science and technology are written in English. The lack of skills in comprehending texts written in English is a handicap to the development of our coun- try because the low speed in comprehending the information will result in our being left behind by the developing countries.
