Abstract

Pulp damage may arise from exposure to hydrogen peroxide, which causes oxidative stress. Green tea has antioxidant properties that can reduce damage by giving free radicals electrons. This study examined the impact of 5 and 10 green tea concentrations on the expression of COX-2 in rat teeth following 40 hydrogen peroxide bleaching. Three groups of male wistar rats fifteen molar teeth were created. Following the bleaching process, specimens in Group I (control group) were rinsed with warm distilled water alone, Group Ill received a 5 green tea treatment, and Group Ill received a 10 green tea rinse. After the rats were terminated one day later, histological preparations were performed using IHC staining. Primary antibody anti-COX-2 was used to analyze expression of COX-2. Under a light microscope, COX-2 expression was observed in three fields at 40x and 100x magnification. The impact of varying green tea consentration on COX-2 expression was demonstrated by the Kruskal Wallis test (p<0.05). The comparison between control group and the treated group (Groups 2 and 3) was differed significantly, according to the Mann Whitney test.
