Abstract

Kapanewon Dlingo has several potential and unique tourist attractions, both natural and artificial. Environmental characteristics and quality factors are important assets for optimizing ecotourism potential. In addition, it is essential to understand various aspects related to the carrying capacity that can be accommodated and the management strategies needed. One approach to analyzing environmental carrying capacity is through an assessment based on ecotourism ecosystem services. Therefore, the objectives of this research are (1) to examine environmental characteristics, and (2) to assess the conditions of environmental carrying capacity based on ecosystem services for ecotourism in Kapanewon Dlingo. The survey method was employed in this research. The carrying capacity of the environment was assessed through ecoregion and land use weighting based on expert judgment. Weighting was conducted using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) with the pairwise comparison method. In general, the potential for ecotourism ecosystem services in Kapanewon Dlingo is dominated by the medium class, with a value range of 0.382-0.744. The aesthetic value of ecotourism ecosystem services with high value is found in landscapes that have vegetated/natural land cover and are located in ecoregions with flat topography. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing.
