This study aimed to assess the genetic diversity of Sakub sheep based on qualitative traits. The research was conducted in Pandansari village, Brebes Regency, involving 182 Sakub sheep, consisting of 124 males and 58 females. Five qualitative traits were analyzed: skin colour (SC), horn shape (HS), tail colour (TC), face shape (FS), and jaw shape (JS). Genetic diversity was calculated using genotype frequency (GF), allelic frequency (AF), and Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium (HWE) through Chi-Square (CS) tests. The results revealed that the SC and HS were PP=0.615 with P=0.721 and TT=0.484 with T=0.506, respectively. TC showed KK=0.615, with K=0.791. Additionally, FS and JS exhibited CC=0.934 and MM=0.967, with corresponding C=0.967 and M=0.984. They represent the highest value of GF and AF for each qualitative trait. The CS test results indicated that the Sakub sheep population in Pandansari village was not in HWE (P>0.05). The study concluded that the dominant homozygote genotype was the most common across all the traits analyzed based on qualitative data. This indicates that dominant alleles are more prevalent in the population than recessive alleles in Sakub sheep. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.
