Introduction: Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome
is a rare congenital disorder that affects the female reproductive system and causing a woman to be unable to menstruate, become pregnant, and have a proper sexual life. Laparoscopic Davydov vaginoplasty is one of the surgical approaches that enables the creation of neovagina to allow coital sexual intercourse.
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate sexual function in patients with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser after vaginoplasty using laparoscopic Davydov technique.
Methods: Eight patients with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser
(MRKH) syndrome who underwent laparoscopic Davydov vaginoplasty from January 2020 – December 2022 and became sexually active were included. Their clinical and follow-up data were assessed. A Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) questionnaire was administrated to evaluate their sexual functions.
Results: The average FSFI score in MRKH patients who underwent laparoscopic Davydov vaginoplasty was 27.01. With the FSFI total score of 26.55 provides an optimal cut of for differentiating women with and without sexual dysfunction, 75% of patients who underwent Davydov vaginoplasty reported to have satisfactory sexual function.
Conclusions: The majority of MRKH patients who underwent laparoscopic Davydov vaginoplasty were found to have high sexual function.
