Abstract

Objective. To determine factors related to parental willingness about HPV vaccination in adolescents.
Methods. Descriptive method and quantitative study that included 98 respondents. Demographic questionnaires, HPV vaccine willingness, knowledge of cervical cancer and HPV, attitude, health beliefs and self-efficacy were included in the instruments. Data were analyzed using chi-square and Fisher tests. Results. There were no associations between demographic characteristic such as religion (0.869), mother's occupation (0.75), family income (0.780), history of pap smear (0.742) with parental willingness. There were no associations between knowledge (0.780), parent's health belief (0.320) and self-efficacy (0.122) with parental willingness but there were associations between parental's attitude with parental willingness (0.027).
Conclusion. Parental attitudes were one of the main factors that influence the willingness to take HPV vaccination in adolescents.
