Abstract

The objectives of this study were to determine the optimum phosphoric acid concentration that produces a PO4–ZrO2 catalyst with the best acidity and examine its performance in the catalytic hydroconversion of used palm cooking oil. The catalysts were characterized by XRD, FTIR, NH3–TPD, SAA, and FESEM–EDX Mapping. The results showed that at 550 °C, the PZ 2 (the best acidity) catalyst produced liquid product and bio-jet fuel selectivity of 39.44% and 33.92%, respectively. On the other hand, a pure ZrO2 catalyst can only have liquid product and bio-jet fuel selectivity of 36.00% and 29.32%, respectively.
