Extrinsic factors such as nutritional status and feed availability affect goat productivity. Body condition score (BCS) is one of the methods to determine nutritional status. BCS influences hypothalamus activity and certain reproductive hormones. Energy imbalance affects the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis (HPG), which may change the secretion of some reproductive steroid hormones. Reproductive function is connected with energy and endocrine system changes. The study aimed to analyze the effect of BCS on blood metabolism and reproductive hormones in Saanen crossbreed using a regression approach. 75 Saanen crossbreed divided into four groups BCS 2 (n=15), BCS 2.5 (n=25), BCS 3 (n=20), and BCS 3.5 (n=15). The blood metabolism analyzes using a spectrophotometer, and reproductive hormones analyze using the ELISA method. The data obtained from blood metabolism and reproductive blood hormones were analyzed by linear regression using SPSS software. The results showed that blood metabolisms were significantly affected by BCS (P<0.05), such as blood cholesterol which in BCS 2, 2.5, 3, and 3.5 were 123.62±21.15; 112.15±22.31; 125.68±18.01; and 107.05±21.04 mg/dl respectively and reproductive hormones were significantly affected by BCS (P<0.05) such as estrogen, cortisol, and progesterone. The results suggested that the performance of BCS 3 goats was significantly better (p<0.05) in all parameters than that of goats in the other groups BCSs. In conclusion, BCS can affect blood metabolites and reproductive blood hormones, with BCS 3 favorable with better performance than the other BCS groups. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc..
