Abstract

This study was conducted to identify the post-weaning growth of Bligon goats at different agroecological zones in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta. Twenty-four Bligon goats of different sex in the hilly and lowland areas were observed and measured. The observed variables included feed intake, body weight, and body size. The data obtained regarding different weights of sex were analyzed using factor correction; namely, the female body weight was corrected to the male by multiplying the female body weight by 1.07 so that the female body weight could be equalized with the male body weight. The differences in agroecology zones were analyzed using the Independent Sample T-test. The dry matter, crude protein, and total digestible nutrients intakes of Bligon goats in the hilly and lowland areas were 1.30±0.29 and 1.49±0.35 kg/day, 0.15±0.03 and 0.15±0.05 kg/day; 0.75±0.17 and 0.81±0.25 kg/day. The average daily gains of Bligon goats in the hilly and lowlands areas were 100.88±42.24 and; 98.12±38.72 g/day. The initial and final body weight and average daily gain of Bligon goats in the hilly and lowlands areas were insignificant. There were no significant differences between Bligon goats in the hilly and lowland areas. It is concluded that post-weaning growth performances of Bligon goats in the hilly and lowland areas have similarities. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
