Abstract
JJLS is a newly constructed highway connecting the southern area of Java. Along the Gunungkidul Regency trace, the road crosses protected karst landscape of Gunungsewu. This study aims to analyze landscape change during 2005-2020 period after the construction of the highway. Landscape change was analyzed by using Spatial Landscape Impact Assessment (SLIA). The data used for this research were Landsat 7 ETM+ images, google earth images, and Sentinel 2A images. The result study shows that the construction of JJLS has changed the landscape structure within the radius of 100 road sides. The change is mostly land use and landforms duty cut and fill activity. JJLS Road construction produces a very high impact on environmental sustainability. The trickle down effect must be controlled in the future development in order to ensure not to deteriorate environmental and water resources. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
