Abstract

Bioacoustics research is an effort to know and solve a signal code of acoustic fauna. In which every fauna has unique and specific sound characters. Acoustic signal was used by fauna to communicate with others. They use it for some needs in an ecosystem. Paddy field is a human-made ecosystem that has a function as a fauna habitat. This research is aimed at knowing bioacoustics composition in paddy field ecosystem in Southern Slope of Mount Merapi, Yogyakarta. The data was taken on October 2018. Passive acoustic monitoring method was used to collect the data. The result is showed that it has 43 variations of sound types. It divided into three classes, the first is Amphibia (13 sound types), the second is Aves (17 sound types), the last is Insects (13 sound types). This research showed that passive acoustic monitoring method can be used as biodiversity monitoring method and it also use to know the effect of environmental change to an ecosystem. © 2020 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
