Abstract

The interest of airplane passengers in using integrated public transportation is still relatively low. This research aims to determine the variables that influence airplane passengers’ preferences in their willingness and the psychological determinants of their intention to use integrated public transit. The research data is based on a survey of 1050 respondents of airplane passengers from six cities that have air-rail integrated services (ARIS) in Indonesia. The data is explored by using the stated preference (SP) and ordered probability model (OPM) methods in analyzing preference levels, as well as using the theory of planned behavior (TPB) to obtain aspects influencing psychology. Analysis reveals that airplane passengers continue to choose private vehicles, and an average of 52.95% are willing to use integrated public transportation when traveling to and from the airport. In addition, this research found that subjective norms influence the intention to use integrated public transportation. Attitudes and perceived behavior control do not contribute significantly to integrated public transportation. Based on the research findings, a series of policy initiatives are proposed, including a campaign to use integrated public transportation services. The challenge is expected from the behavior of airplane passengers who still choose to use private vehicles due to the comfort factor in traveling, which is influenced by carrying bags and luggage.
