Abstract

Objective: The COVID-19 patients that have high risk of cardiac arrest requires additional preparation before undergoing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), especially in relation to the airway transmission of the virus. This study aims to investi-gate the decision of the ICU doctors in Indonesia to perform CPR in COVID-19 patients under scarce resources. Methodology: This study is a cross-sectional descriptive study using an online survey distributed to ICU doctors in Indonesia. Results: A total of 144 ICU doctors completed the survey. The results indicated that 85 did not have a good ICU isolation room, 83 did not have adequate PPE, so 61 choose not to perform CPR on COVID-19 patients if they are not equipped with an adequate PPE. Conclusion: Most respondents choose not to perform CPR if they are not equipped with good PPE. In the future, equipment to prevent infection should be introduced in the ICU so that appropriate CPR can be performed on patients with COVID-19. © 2021 Japan University of Health Sciences & Japan International Cultural Exchange Foundation.
