Abstract

In this study, we investigated the effect of an electric potential on localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) properties of Fe3O4/Ag composite magnetic nanoparticles. The nanoparticles were synthesized using the co-precipitation methods and deposited on BK7 hemispherical prisms coated in an Au thin film. The light source used is A He-Ne laser beam with a wavelength of 632.8 nm using the Kretschmann array consisting of a prism, Au thin film, Fe3O4/Ag composite NPs, and an air medium. Electric potential generated by varying voltages of 2, 4, and 6 volts were applied to a prism/Au thin film/air layer structures and a prism/Au thin film/Fe3O4/Ag composite NPs/air layer structures. The result showed that the greater the applied electric field, the more significant the shift in the LSPR angle.
