Abstract

This study examines the transnational orientation of Teungku Kuta Karang by analyzing his interactions with the international community. Teungku Kuta Karang, a notable religious figure in the Aceh region of Indonesia, exerted considerable influence in shaping the transnational connections and engagements of the local community in the early 20th century. Through an analysis of the primary sources of Teungku Kuta Karang’s manuscripts and an exploration of the historical context, this study attempts to shed light on the aspects that influenced his transnational orientation and its repercussions on local and international communities. This study indicates that Teungku Kuta Karang developed a unique transnational practice throughout his life that benefited local and global communities. The outcome of this study is a model of transnationalism that can be implemented to help improve the current situation of a moderate nation in the present day.
