Abstract

Biosorption using humic acid is an alternative method to remove contaminants such as heavy metals in aqueous. In this study, humic acid was immobilized on cellulose to reduce its solubility at higher pH, so it was stable at various pHs. Immobilization was carried out by crosslink method using epichlorohydrin to obtain stable adsorbent (HA‒C) at various pHs. Adsorption study was carried out to evaluate the influence of pH, contact time and adsorbate concentration. The adsorption Cr(III) was carried out at pH 5 which was the optimum pH. By using 0.02 mg adsorbent, the optimum contact time was 120 minutes with the optimum concentration of 150 mg L-1 . From these data, the isotherm and kinetics models found for the adsorbates on HA‒C adsorbent were Freundlich isotherm models and Pseudo-Second-Order kinetic model proposed by Ho. © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.
