Abstract

The purpose of this paper is twofold. The first is to analyze the performance of TransJogja Bus: load factor, headway, and travel time. The second is to identify the behavior of its passengers: passengers characteristics (age, gender, income, vehicle and driving license ownership), trip characteristic (trip purpose, origin-destination point, access/egress mode to/from the bus stop, the frequency of use), and the tolerable and expected waiting time. There are three surveys in this study: the onboard survey involving all route of TransJogja Bus, the bus stop survey, and passenger questionnaire survey involving 703 respondents. The result shows that the load factor of TransJogja Bus only reaches 17.35, consisting of 23.75 and 9 on the existing routes (1A to 4B) and the new routes (5A to 11) respectively. By employing an ordered-response logit model, the result shows that students and female tend to use TransJogja Bus more frequent. TransJogja Bus is also more often used for short distance trip. Meanwhile, nearly 43 of passengers choose to use TransJogja Bus because of the unavailability of private vehicle mode (captive users), and more than half of TransJogja Bus passengers have no driving license ownership. Finally, sub-district-based origin and destination matrix for TransJogja Bus passenger is estimated by implementing a tri-proportional approach.
