The status of cultural subdistrict allows the government finances various cultural activities. Government's fund comes from Dana Istimewa, a special funding accepted by Yogyakarta from the government of Indonesia to maintain cultural condition. Gedongkiwo which is near Yogyakarta city center has limited spaces and densely populated. Urban acupuncture uses small-scale interventions in the environment to create larger, positive impacts. This approach can be used in Gedongkiwo subdistrict which has similar conditions. Several case studies were analyzed to explore urban acupuncture in modifying available public space. A survey was conducted to map the possible areas for supporting and improving cultural activities. The aim of this paper is to address spaces for supporting sustainable economic, social, and environmental activities related to the status of Cultural Subdistricts in Gedongkiwo. The result shows that kelurahan Gedongkiwo has several areas in three kampung that can be used as starting points for urban acupuncture.
