Abstract

Indonesia, rich in heritage values (tangible and intangible), needs different kinds of strategies and approaches in the effort of mapping (cultural-natural). This research is driven by employing mapping as the first step in the macro concept of Historic Urban Landscape (HUL). Using five different cases, this research will explain how and what are the best tools for cultural-natural mapping in different scales. There are two kinds of macro-scale mapping areas: (1) Koto Sentajo on how the implementation of drones and discussion help the cultural-natural mapping and (2) Bandung City case using HUL as an approach to map their richness of cultural and natural features. In mid-scale mapping, there is Randusari Site in Semarang which uses mapping as the base for creating an interpretation strategy plan. For microscale mapping, there are two cases. First in Ngasem Street, Yogyakarta, where the research focused on mapping the first layer of the street to subtract their characters. The second case is in Magelang, Jawa Tengah, which will explain more about how Closed Range Photogrammetry is used in creating the 3D object to complete mapping. All methodologies, strategies, and approaches that are used in these researches are examples of how cultural-natural mapping can be done on several scales in Indonesia.
