Abstract

The pandemic made a turbulent environment and contributed to the changes and triggered a crisis that impacted social life in the urban tourism space. This phenomenon has created paradigms that affect the spatial structure of urban space and the behavior of the urban community using it. This study aims to reveal and identify a new paradigm of the morphological image of the Yogyakarta Ground Zero Area, which was experiencing a contraction' in its tourism spaces due to the pandemic. The analysis was carried out morphologically with Place Centered Mapping technique to find out the pattern of human movement at specific periods and times in utilizing the tourism space. The study showed a new paradigm in the morphological characteristics of the urban area that fills the urban tourism space in the form of space contraction and the emergence of new spaces due to new regulations that affect the movement and pattern of urban tourism space utilization.
