Along with the vast population growth, decreasing water table and increasing water contamination in Indonesia including Yogyakarta, rain water harvester (RWHr) is a prospective technique to tackle those issues. This study focuses to determine proper RWHr technique suitable for Yogyakarta and Indonesia in general. Additionally, the quality of rain water capturing and users’ acceptance are analysed. The RWHr technique, GAMA-RainFilter, design incorporates piping system, staging of water filter, reservoir, and overflow. The technology is user friendly, adaptive to any conditions and runs with semi-automatic system. The GAMA-RainFilters were installed in 65 family houses. Four representative samples of rain water were laboratory tested for its quality. User acceptance in 59 family houses were assessed through questionnaires. The results showed that GAMA-RainFilter is feasible in the community and produces clean water fit for daily use. User acceptance showed that more than 75 are satisfied and find it beneficial to use.
