Abstract

In this study, the symptoms of anthracnose were observed on mango fruits in orchards in Indramayu, Indonesia. The incidence and intensity of the disease were recorded to be 28.4% and 11.87% respectively. Colletotrichum asianum was isolated from the symptomatic fruits, and the identification of the fungi was based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis. Pathogenicity test was conducted on Manalagi cultivar of mango, and discovered that all 13 isolates of the fungi caused rotting symptoms on the fruit. Afterwards, they were reisolated from the symptomatic fruits to fulfil Koch's postulates. This study is the first report of C. asianum associated with mango anthracnose in Indonesia.
